History of FFGUMC
Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church
And still the church grew.  It soon became
evident that the facilities were becoming
too small.  At the Charge Conference of
1987, with 300 members, the congregation
voted to build a new sanctuary and office
area and to convert the sanctuary to a
fellowship hall and education area.  In 1988,
our present sanctuary, with a capacity of 500
people, was built and the former sanctuary
became what is now our Fellowship Hall.
In January of 1993, a "long-range planning committee" was again
organized to study the needs of the church.  As a result of their
studies, a building committee was organized in September of 1993.
With a membership of 713, the third phase of building for Fairfield
Glade UMC was completed, providing new office space, choir
room, expanded library facilities, storage for crafters to use, and
more Sunday School space.
Fairfield Glade United
Methodist Church is a vibrant,
active, and devoted
congregation.  We have almost
1,000 members and average 654
in worship on Sundays.  The
congregation met for the first
time in August of 1980.  It was
officially organized on
September 21, 1980 with 30
Charter members with the Rev.
Ron Pulley serving as its first
and founding pastor.  Ron
served the congregation for 11
years prior to retiring.  For the
first eight months, the services
were held at the Fairfield Glade
Security Building.  This small
congregation grew rapidly and
it soon became necessary to
obtain a larger space.  On
Easter of 1981, services were
moved to the Civic Center.  The
group soon decided that it was
ready and willing to take on the
challenge of building a new
church facility.  The first service
in the new building was held on
Christmas Eve in 1983.  The
sanctuary was what is now our
Fellowship Hall.
