Hospitality Ministries
Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church
We at FFGUMC try to help people be aware of what we have to offer, both in our church and in the
community. There are many committees/ means to welcome everyone into the home of our church community.
The Publicity Committee was formed about 2 years ago as part of the "Hospitality Ministry." This committee
is headed by Judy Etzel, and its main objective is to "get the word out" about the many activities of our church.
Articles ranging from regularly scheduled events such as the Fifth Sunday Potluck, to Bible study series open
to the community, and to special speakers or performers appear in the local newspapers. Committee chairs
within the church are urged to contact Judy with their publicity needs.
The Greeters Committee, chaired by Larry Backus, greets all persons attending the Sunday services as
they arrive at Fairfield Glade Methodist Church. Their goal is to make everyone feel welcome. Contact us at
ffgumc@citlink.net if you are interested in volunteering for this committee.
Hosts Committee serves at the Information table in the Narthex. Here, visitors, as well as members, will find
information and have questions answered regarding our church. Contact us at ffgumc@citlink.net if you are
interested in volunteering for this committee.
New Member Mentors are persons who help to assimilate new members into the life of the congregation by
inviting them to events throughout their first year of membership; by answering questions; by putting them in
contact with ministry teams where they would like to serve. Contact us at ffgumc@citlink.net if you would like to
volunteer for this committee.
Worship Guest Visitor is someone who makes a call on local guests who have attended worship. The
responsibilities are as follows:
1- Volunteer for just one Sunday per month
2- Select the service for which you would be responsible
3- After that service, check the attendance sheets for first time visitors who
have written down their address
4- Write their address on a prepared form, fill the “Goody bag” and deliver it
that same day.
If there is a Sunday you can’t make it, there are subs you can call to take your place for that day. To
volunteer to be a "visitor", contact Ken Miller, our Director of Assimilation.
Christmas Dinner – was begun in the home of Bill and Betty Johnson (a long time ago) for persons who
could not travel “home” to be with family; it eventually outgrew their home and has since met at the church. It
is the ultimate potluck, in that turkeys and hams are provided and all other food is furnished by persons
coming to the dinner; it is a wonderful time of fellowship together.
