United Methodist Women
Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church
The purpose of the UMW states that we, as a community of women, are to
expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of
the church.  Global ministries mean the world around us and, as an active
ministry, we have to serve where we can.  Fairfield Glade United Methodist
Women serve in the nursing homes near us by playing bingo and taking a
small birthday present to Wyndridge residents for the Birthday Party once a
month.  We need volunteers with this mission.  First of all, we would like to
have more volunteers to go to Wyndridge to play bingo on the third Friday
of every month.  We play Bingo, serve refreshments and visit with the
residents.  Their smiles of appreciation make it all worthwhile.

Another way to help would be donations for birthday gifts.  Suggestions are:

Socks of light colors                             Footies of various light colors
Scarves of many colors                       Men's socks (not black)
Gloves (one size fits all)                      Shampoos.... both men and women
Kleenex                                                   Men's pocket T-shirts (not black)
Bath gels, both men and women       Lotions, both men and women
Men's shirts (White Large, XL)            Pull-on slipper socks (light colors)
Deodorant (Old Spice/Secret)             Baby Wipes

Be careful of smells, please...no strong odors...strong perfume smells are
not appropriate.  Size of products should be in the medium range (not motel
samples).  No jewelry please.  Odds and ends of birthday gift wrap will be
appreciated.

Money donations are always appropriate to defray costs of snacks, etc.

There will be a box for your donations in the Sunday School hall marked for
UMW.

You may contact Charlene Richardson (456-0148) or Marlene Badgerow
(484-0001).

Two events help to fund missions through United Methodist Women.  Each
Spring is the annual rummage and bake sale.  Each October is the annual
Craft Sale.  To see some of the activities of this year's sale click here .

All women are invited to participate in UMW. We would love to see you!
Be a Servant from Home
The United Methodist Women invite you to participate in an ongoing collection of
labels and coupons to support a variety of services.  The three services are
described as follows:

Labels for Education:  These are found on Campbell’s soup cans and a variety
of other products, including Pepperidge Farm brand, some hygiene items and
office supplies.  These go to Red Bird Mission School where they are combined
with those from other Methodist Churches and turned into transport vans.  To
find out more about this service or get a list of products, go to www.
labels4education.com.  Click “how to earn,” then click “participating products.”

Coupons for the Military:  These must be manufacturer’s coupons only, no
store or local coupons and no fast-food coupons, please.  Also, internet coupons
are not accepted.  They may be food or non-food coupons, however.  These are
sent to a specific location to be disbursed to the commissaries of all service
branches on overseas bases for use by military families, who are living on a tight
budget.  These coupons must be current or no more than six months expired.
This service is also accessible through the internet for more information; go to
www.grocerysavingtips.com.  Click on “Military Family Coupon Project.”

Box Tops for Education:  These are found on a wide variety of food packages,
including frozen vegetables, Betty Crocker products, many cereals, and other
foods.  Also, Hefty disposable tableware, many Avery office supplies, snacks, zip-
lock brand items, and many other non-food items.  These labels are sent to the
Crab Orchard Elementary School to purchase classroom supplies, art supplies,
and physical education equipment such as basketballs.  More can be learned on
the internet by going to www.boxtops4education.com.  Click “earn” and then click
on “clip box tops.”

These three “forever” collections address diverse needs — coupons for military
families far from home, transportation for those in remote and rural areas, and
supplies for elementary school children who would otherwise be without those
items.

Containers for collection are located in two places at FFGUMC:  a small box sits
on top of the sound equipment cabinet next to the piano in the Fellowship Hall,
and the other is a blue container marked “For Redbird Mission—UPC codes
only.”  The blue container is located in the workroom, behind the church office.

Your support goes a long way, and it is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN – FEBRUARY MEETING

Ladies, even if you are living a busy life, take time out for yourself by joining the UMW on Feb. 8th in our Fellowship Hall at
9:30 am.  It is a great opportunity to grow spiritually while renewing old friendships and making new friends.  This month's
meeting has a program that promises to be very informative and is entitled "Racial Justice from the Jewish Community Point
of View"  presented by Guest Speaker, Norton Goodman.  Mr. Goodman's  extensive background on this subject is sure to
broaden our insights. Not only do we invite you to attend, we pray that you do!
Board Meeting 8:30 prior to the social.
