Worship Ministry
Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church
Worship is a primary entry point into the life of our congregation. We seek to offer a setting where God’s divine presence is
experienced through music, Scriptures, preaching, and prayers. Each Sunday we hold three services: two traditional (8:30 and
11:00 a.m.) and one blended (9:45 a.m.).  Our traditional worship follows a general, historical order with elements and acts of
worship that would be familiar to many persons.  At the traditional worship, Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of
each month.  Our blended worship, known as Sacred Encounters, offers a more informal style of worship and music, using
many contemporary “praise” hymns. The music for Sacred Encounters is led by Marty Gibson, our Assistant Music Director,
and our praise team known as “The Gospel Truth.” At Sacred Encounters, Holy Communion is served each week.

At FFGUMC we have an excellent music program available for those who enjoy participating or just want to enjoy the music.

The Wonders of Worship
Did you know that the Worship Committee is made up of at least 13 different sub-committees filled with volunteers whose
primary focus is on SERVICE?  They do so because God has called them to serve, and they serve with humility and the spirit
of love.  For the most part, they work quietly, unobserved and on Sunday mornings amazing things have happened!  Flowers
have been ordered and placed on the altar, pews have been made ready with pencils, envelopes and necessary supplies,
children’s worship packets have been readied for those attending, communion supplies have been purchased and organized
for those Sundays, a committee working on dramatic arts, and dance, ushers standing by to welcome and receive each of us
with a warm friendly smile and a bulletin, and most Sundays our acolytes are ushers as well. Most certainly you notice when
church decorations are added to the glory of each season, and the list could go on and on.

Linda DeBerry and I meet on a continual basis with the Pastors finding new ways of making the worship experience more
meaningful. In a recent meeting we agreed to look at bringing environmental and visual arts to worship. Also, we are planning
on developing a committee who would organize a quarterly concert series and are looking for volunteers to support this
valuable ministry.

We are a church filled with volunteers.  If you feel called to serve, we have some groups that will need support in 2011. Please
prayerfully consider your service and feel free to call one of us.

Tape Ministry
Each week volunteers deliver cassette tapes of the worship service to persons who are unable to attend due to ill health.  Click
here => to send an email  if you are interested in receiving tapes.

Environmental Arts Committee
A new sub-committee of the Worship Ministry Team, our Environmental Arts Committee meets to examine scriptures projected
for use in worship and works to design visual elements for the altar-table and chancel area to enhance the worship
experience. The Environmental Arts Committee also helps to coordinate the many banners used throughout the year within the
sanctuary. Contact Tony Perkins if you are interested in learning more information or being a part of this ministry.

Seasonal Decorations
Each year before Advent we “dress” the church for the season of Advent through Epiphany. It is a time of fellowship and
celebration as we hang the greens, set up the Christmas Tree, and unpack the nativity.

Ushers
The coordinators who arrange for and schedule the ushers for our services are as follows:
8:30 Dick and Carol Radtke
9:45 Jim and Anne Grove
11:00 Arlene Meyers
If you are interested in volunteering to be an usher, please email us at
